It probably happens a thousand times every day, photographs from airplanes. There’s nothing distinctive about it. But I have a few shots like this which were the last I took, coming home, after my Pyrenees walking trip. When I came back from the mountains three years ago – from sunshine to gloom – I reflected on the fact that not too high above me, above the clouds, the sun was shining and the sky was blue. As such, I was not trapped under dreadful British weather. In reality, I was. Elevation is what we need in life. Elevation, height, as far as we can go. This is a constant struggle against forces which drag us down.
