The Peak District is not my favourite walking area. I do however rank it quite highly for photo possibilities of a particular kind. Walk Scotland, Wales and the Lake District and you develop a certain mind set, a certain approach, resting on aesthetic ideas and styles. Composing a picture at the top of Scafell Pike is different from the photography you undertake in the relatively tame Peak District. The terrain is different, obviously, and there’s a subtle difference in the photography also: you need a different set of sensitivities for a different landscape.
