This was a wonderful moment as the orange grasses were blowing in the wind, separated from the snow because of their colour. I increased the contrast and saturation slightly, cropped away a little of the edges to tighten the composition and applied some sharpening because my Canon defaults are (deliberately) soft. Some shots don’t need much work although this is not to say even simple editing can be done quickly. It can’t – because every tiny change involves careful judgement. I like this photo. The composition is simple but it’s full of interest: delicate colour contrast, textures, foreground and background layering, and subtle but beautiful light.
