The word Rhinog translates roughly into the word threshold. They are a rough chain of hills situated between the sea on one side and these rolling smaller hills inland. It’s quite wild here, sometimes pathless, and some people have a special affection for the Rhinogs accordingly. I like the sea views, the gentle views you see here, but the rough walking ground which always seems to take a long time to cross is not my favourite. It is however definitely an area to visit, to sample another another taste of the Welsh mountains which is quite distinctive.
