Sometimes I like the most simple of shots. There’s no drama here. It’s generic, can’t be identified as any particular place, but that doesn’t matter. It’s a pleasing painterly shot. Five minutes from here, down the slope, you find the Cwm Nantcol camp site. I went there for the first time in spring 2014 and again in the autumn. It’s one of my favourite camp sites and a pleasure to visit. I suppose some people have favourite hotel rooms, streets, or cities. I like camp sites. There’s a road above the far hillside which leads to the end of Cwm Nantcol and the beginning of fine walking up to Rhinog Fawr and Rhinog Fach. If you drive left you reach the tiny village of Llanbedr and you can find a beach in twenty minutes. Harlech is not too far away with its UNESCO recognised castle. In the other direction you reach Barmouth in about thirty minutes.
