I came here in spring 2016 in similar summery weather. A few days of it, like too much of a British good thing is unconstitutional. A few days of it again in 2017 then grey skies, and a retreat to Manchester. It’s a wonderful area. Fifteen years ago Eskdale in the Lake District was my special retreat. A blend of homely, dramatic, peaceful, and beautiful. The last three years it’s been here. In both places, you have access to good hill walks. More in the Lake District, admittedly, but there’s no getting away from the touristy atmosphere which is why I’ve more recently preferred Wales.
