I don’t take many shots like this. The reason I did it here is because despite the obvious drama of the location there wasn’t – in this direction at least – a good photograph to take. I wandered back down the path where I’d come from Refuge Airoto scanning the outlook for compositions and making use of foreground interest – but there was nothing. So to give the shot some character I included my rucksack and the sign down to the refuge. I’d had lunch there and a few other people arrived including a party of French ladies with whom I could converse a little. Mais Espagnola? Non, pas d’Espagnola, malheuresement.
