Leaving the little area where I’d eaten, you climb a steep hillside. I felt anxious here because you can’t plan or see ahead and have to trust the trajectory of the climbing path. And the start of the climb is not clear at all. In fact it was an easy section here, but you never know what to expect. As I climbed the track I stopped, many times, to watch the rapidly changing light for photographic opportunities. The day was clouding over – I knew this later – but at this point cloud and shadows were interspersed with light.
