Whenever I reach outlooks like this across to other peaks I recall being at those places and want to be there again. Discovering Pillar was a joy. As I recall it was the second last Lake District hill to explore before I’d walked them all. Not the Wainwrights – I haven’t walked them all and I’m not interested in doing so. I mean the big, well known, notable hills. Pillar, then the last was here: Red Pike, High Stile, High Crag. I walked Pillar three or four times in one year and quite often for a few years after. I’ve walked along this ridge about five times. This was the best occasion.
