Working through my photographs I initially missed this shot. I think we have a certain mood in mind, an idea of a picture when we take the shot, and these factors don’t always match up. It’s fun to review your collection to see which photographs you didn’t initially appreciate. This can be weeks, months, or even a year or two later.

This is a favourite area of mine. The valley below is Dolwyddelan. Few people walk here. I’ve done so perhaps five times, and never seen anyone. Wales is like that. It doesn’t have the scale and beauty of Scotland. What it does have, similarly, is places for solitary and wild retreat.
