A few years ago I undertook a three day wild camping circuit around Wasdale. My first night camp was at Blackbeck Tarn, and for my second night I found an unpleasant perch halfway up a gully in the slopes you see before you. I woke in sunless shade but once on the top it was a wonderful blue sky day. After walking for an hour or two I stopped and sunbathed beside a pool. The hills are alive, not with the filmic phrase but with resonant memories.
