I remember climbing this slope in ten foot visibility. I don’t usually enjoy the crude physicality of mountain walking as an end in itself. For me it’s about the views. Occasionally however it feels good simply to move, pant, sweat and climb in these environments regardless of the weather.

As I did that, not bothered by the fact that I couldn’t see the route (I’d done it many times before) an anxious lady said to me “you know what you’re doing” when we discussed where we were. I remember a few times where I helped others and realised I wasn’t a beginner any more. If you see no more photographs you will understand this doesn’t mean however you are ever totally secure.
