One of the pleasures of the hills is remembering past times when you gaze across the land. You have an imaginative overlay of memories and narratives to enjoy. I’ve only walked at Burnmoor Tarn once. You can see it very subtly in the top right corner. It was a sombre day with no photo opportunities.

I remember being surprised that it was not far from the hamlet of Boot. I’d wandered up the hillside a few times and the area seemed larger than it actually is. That’s the Scafells in the top left corner. This was early evening, around six or seven o’clock.
