Another stunning black and white shot. The effect of black and white is sculptural. I remember the era when colour film was not wholly accepted in photographic culture. ‘Serious’ photography was supposed to be black and white. I think there’s a sensual effect to black and white photography, a distinctive beauty whereby textures are rendered into silky tones. I felt it as a teenager when I gazed at library books showing the work of Kertesz and Cartier-Bresson, the beginning of my love for photography. I still feel it now.
