This was possibly the best cloud inversion I’ve ever seen. The Aspe valley and beyond was covered in a sea of cloud. After seven trips to the Pyrenees this was the first big inversion I’d witnessed in the daytime. In the evening it’s not unusual for cloud to fill and settle down in the valleys when you’re at a height of two or three thousand metres above it. I’ve seen it at Gavarnie from the Sarradets refuge, and from Baysellance looking down to the Ossoue valley with flashes of distant lightning. I saw another daytime inversion this year too, down the Vallee de Gaube and Cauterets.
