This is possibly my favourite Midi d’Ossau shot from this year. I enjoyed walking around Lac Gentau exploring all the possibilities, which needed about an hour. The area has huge photographic potential. At such places you seek the one iconic shot, or two or three of them, and there’s more to find too with the angles, viewpoints, and compositions. I do like the square format. I think it’s partly because it’s not so common, and partly because of its effect. It feels balanced, solid, concentrated, compared to the sprawling feel of a panoramic shot.
