This is perhaps a hundred metres below Col de la Fache. Editing these photographs nearly two months later is a thrilling experience. A good photograph anchors and solidifies your memories.

In my imagination, I don’t necessarily gravitate towards my last Pyrenees trip. I’ve felt this before. This year for example I’ve been thinking about my trip in 2013. Last year seems more poignant when I mostly walked the GR11. It was possibly my best Pyrenees yesr. The first, in 2007, I stayed at Lescun. The second, 2009, I walked the HRP from Lescun to Gavarnie as I did this year.

The first time is always a wonderful and unrepeatable experience full of adventure and the unknown. Last year was a particularly good route. This year, approaching and then climbing Grande Fache was a wonderful highlight. That’s why I’m enjoying my Grand Fache photographs 2014.
