Years ago, I noticed how autumn colours are much the same in winter. The trees lose their leaves but grasses and bracken remain red, russet, brown. When spiky leaves remain such as here the same applies. This day was potentially very cold. I saw this light then it disappeared. I waited to see it again with occasional icy wind. On the left here you see the flank of Maiden Moor. In the far distance you see the slopes of Skiddaw and a small section of Derwentwater.
