I’ve had several outstanding snowy days in the Lake District. This was one of them. The forecast was for 30, 40, possibly fifty mile an hour winds and a minus twenty chill. It was coming from the Arctic. I wasn’t concerned. My plan was spend a short time on the top for photographs and video, and come down again. Don’t bother with a walk as such. It was a cold day, zero in the valleys and I’d guess minus two or three up here. When you’re walking however, that’s fine. There was an occasional strong breeze and it was noticeably icy. It chilled me in seconds. Walkers are dreamers. We’re always dreaming about these places as I am, now, wondering about Causey Pike because it’s years since I’ve been there.
