The valley below was covered in cloud. It was cold and damp and I started shivering. My socks were wet, my feet were cold, and there was nothing I could do to change this. I woke next morning to appalling damp mist with ten foot visibility. My mood became worse. An hour later I was below the cloud, which was also dissipating with wonderful sunshine. Sometimes you’re above the cloud, sometimes you’re below it.

I prefer the larger view panorama of this shot, with evening light catching distant peaks from Pombie. It was a moment full of photographic potential, however, such as this close view crop.

This is looking toward the Arremoulit refuge, which I walked to the next day.
