I liked this area, which is about two hours from Refuge Carozzu. I felt like I was exploring a gorge in Crete which was, many years ago, one of my first walking joys. I discovered it accidentally as I wandered along the beach. I kept going, got lost, got badly sunburnt and returned, late, to the room I was sharing with a girlfriend. It was irresistible. I’ve had more days like that, on the edge of safety, but mostly in Britain. Walking abroad, the parameters are usually very different. I didn’t know such walking was possible, found another gorge, then we returned in the autumn and walked the Samaria Gorge. Sea, sunshine, rock, views. It’s a good combination.
