Here’s a good example of the importance of photographic shape. The panorama and my other shot are very fine. I like them both. They serve a different purpose depending on taste and personal use. You might want a panorama photograph on your wall, in which case this is the one for you. It’s not the best format for a book however, which is why the other shot is useful. There are panorama landscape books but they don’t work too well. It’s a difficult shape to handle.

The dip in the middle is where I’d come from. The col is called Bocca di Foggiale, at 1962 metres, climbed from Auberge U Vallone if you walk the GR20.
