The British party climbed Rotondu the day before me. I took a rest day. The Austrian chap set also set off continuing with the GR20. This meant I was detached from the English speaking people I’d spent time with. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about that because a solitary trip can be isolating. I like walking on my own in the day at my own pace, with all the time I need for photographs and video. I get tired and don’t walk fast, which means I can’t fit into a group speed.

This is an hour or so into the climb up Rotondu from Petra Piana. After this it gets steep and rocky.
