Petra Piana is a few hours below here, the slopes of Rotondo. I got some good shots from the refuge, numerous more on this day, making the area distinctive. If you want good photographs in Corsica I recommend it.

There were other places too. In my imagination I can scan back to my GR20 trip, moving from one photograph to another. I can also do this with the Pyrenees. That view down to Midi d’Ossau. The other one from Refuge Pombie, and more. The Lake District and Snowdonia are even more familiar. Great Gable down to Wastwater. Scafell Pike over to distant Borrowdale; not visible but suggested with a tiny glimpse of Derwentwater. Cnicht and the sea beyond. Rhinog Fach and the soft nearby Arenigs.

Walking from Manganu to Petra Piana, dog tired and unhappy, the cloud clears for a moment and I get that shot. I can’t remember what the name of the area. There’s a lake. It’s in my archives.
