I’m a hill walker and mountain photographer. The experience of scenes like this is, however, possibly more satisfying. The walk isn’t – a short stroll around Ivy Green, Chorlton Meadows and Chorlton Ees. The photograph as such is also no comparison to a Pyrenees view, Scotland, Snowdonia, the Lake District or Peak District. The satisfaction is because of the modesty of the place but the beauty you find there.

Photographers have traditionally advised that location is secondary to your vision. You can find interesting photographs anywhere. It’s good advice for beginners developing their craft. Beyond that, it’s not actually true. Location, along with light and weather, is everything. You can however find places like this for a project or book. Mine is forthcoming.
