I don’t usually walk with such intent focus on photography. I walk because I love to walk and photography is a part of that, characteristically in the mountains and hills. This was a photographic day. I saw the fog in Manchester and reasoned, correctly, it was more dense and photogenic here at Chorlton Meadows.

I enjoyed it very much, photographically. As with snow, fog and mist transforms the habitual environment into a quieter, stiller and more peaceful experience. As if the thick air softens the sound. It probably does so in scientific terms, but the greater effect is psychological and aesthetic. I’ve had shots of local foggy conditions before, both here and at Manchester parks. These are my best.
